Performance and Improvement
The most recent Audit Commission Direction of Travel judgement on the Council categorised us at 2* and "Improving Well".
In its commentary the Commission said:
"Wolverhampton Council is improving well. Performance has continued to improve in most priority areas. Schools' results show another significant increase in the number of pupils obtaining five good GCSEs and services for young people aged 14-19 are outstanding. However, this year's assessment of children's services judged them only adequate. Adult social care services continue to perform well. Housing and care services for vulnerable people show significant improvement from previously poor performance. The Council is making positive contributions to wider community outcomes. Neighbourhood management arrangements are making a difference in local areas. The Council's plans to continue to improve services and enhance capacity are being rethought in order to achieve necessary savings as well as planned benefits. Leadership is good and management processes continue to improve."
The Council recently supported the Local Strategic Partnership through the Comprehensive Area Assessment regime and is committed to a programme of transformation as part of our overall drive for greater efficiencies.
